The tribute

The things I have shot in the past 4 days fill one 512 MB CF card – my coworkers at the paper, a mug of a columnist, hospital waiting rooms (very illegal, but I take my camera everywhere — who doesn’t?)

The joys of being photo editor, not photo shooter.

My favorite is this one.

I went out on my driveway to make a call, only to find this little one trying to blend in with the pine straw. I immediately was inspired by the recent images my coworker, Lindy, shot of baby chipmunks in her driveway. I put the 80-200mm on the D1H, put the body on the driveway, and held the lens up with a wadded-up scarf. Shot at ISO 1000 f2.8 1/4 sec in RAW. The available light is the light in the driveway, casting this gold color. I believe the pink thing behind the frog’s head is a leaf.

Cute is subjective.
