Things I love about Buenos Aires

Street performers in San Telmo

Street performers in San Telmo

Street performers. (These ones are pretending to be blown by the wind.)

You usually get little cookies and a little shot glass of sparkling water when you order a coffee in a cafe

They kiss you when they meet you, they kiss you when they greet you, they kiss you when they leave, and no one ever says “goodbye”, just “ciao” or “see you later.”

There’s always another 152 bus right around the corner.

When you say “thank you” they say “no, please, thank YOU,” and when they thank you, they never just say “thank you,” they say “a million thanks” or “many many thanks.”

It’s a short bus trip away from more open areas is you want a day away from the city.

TWO daily newspapers.

Artisan fairs.

Cheap food. Cheap beer. – isn’t that enough?

I like that when I say thank you, people say, “Noooo, por faVOR!” As if the kind gesture were commonplace and nothing special.

You are so right about #152.

    Ciao!

  • Crazy, I have the exact same photo of the same people on Florida St. Such an interesting crowd there.
